2019 · 2020 · 2021 · 2022 · 2023 · 2024 · 2025
Most 2019–2023 RAV4 brake kits we carry are shared with the 2018–2024 Camry, 2022–2023 Corolla Cross and several Lexus models, so you'll see those names in product titles. Our 2025 RAV4 listings are limited for now (mainly brake pads and filters).
2013–2018 RAV4 (4th generation, XA40)
2013 · 2014 · 2015 · 2016 · 2017 · 2018
2006–2012 RAV4 (3rd generation, XA30)
2006 · 2007 · 2008 · 2009 · 2010 · 2011 · 2012
The brake kits, calipers, control arms and rear shocks below are listed for every year from 2006 to 2018, so 3rd- and 4th-generation owners often use the same parts.
2001–2005 RAV4 (2nd generation)
2001 · 2002 · 2003 · 2004 · 2005
Important: brake kits for the 2006–2018 RAV4 do not fit the 2019+ RAV4 (and vice versa). The part numbers are different, so always start from your model year.

RAV4 brakes: what to know before you buy
Signs your RAV4 needs brakes
- A high-pitched squeal when braking. Many pads have a wear indicator that makes this noise when they're getting thin.
- Grinding or scraping, which usually means the pad material is gone and metal is touching the rotor.
- A pulsing brake pedal or steering wheel shake under braking, often caused by uneven rotor wear.
- The RAV4 pulling to one side when you brake, which can point to a sticking caliper.
- Longer stopping distances or a soft-feeling pedal. Get this checked right away.
Front vs rear vs full kit
Front brakes do most of the stopping and usually wear out first. A front + rear kit includes rotors and pads for both axles, so you can do the whole vehicle at once. Our kit listings show exactly what's in the box (for example "2x Front Disc Brake Rotor, 1x Front Ceramic Brake Pad Set"). Always replace pads and rotors in pairs on the same axle.
Ceramic vs semi-metallic, plain vs drilled & slotted
- Ceramic pads are quiet, produce less brake dust and suit everyday driving.
- Semi-metallic pads handle heat well and bite harder, but can be noisier and dustier.
- Coated rotors have a finish that helps resist rust on the hub and edges, which is useful with Canadian road salt.
- Drilled & slotted rotors help clear heat and gas, and many people choose them for the look. For normal driving, plain rotors do the job.
RAV4 owner tips
- Bed in new pads and rotors. After installing, find a quiet, safe road. Make several moderate slow-downs from about 50 km/h, then a few firmer ones from about 80 km/h, without coming to a complete stop while the brakes are hot. Then drive a few minutes with little braking so they cool. Go easy on hard stops for the next few hundred kilometres. This lays down an even layer of pad material and helps prevent vibration and noise.
- Service the caliper slide pins every time. In salt-belt provinces, RAV4 owners often report rear brakes dragging or wearing unevenly because the caliper slide pins rust and seize. Clean the pins and their bores, replace any torn rubber boots, and use a thin coat of silicone brake grease (not regular petroleum grease, which can swell the boots). Clean rust off the bracket where the pad ears sit, too.
- Hybrids: use the brakes firmly now and then. Regenerative braking means the friction brakes do less work, so rotors can build up surface rust over a Canadian winter. Owners recommend a few firm stops from time to time to keep the rotor faces clean.
- Pads only, or pads and rotors? Replace pads before the friction material is down to about 2–3 mm. Squealing from the wear indicator is your warning. Replace rotors if they're at or below the minimum thickness stamped on the rotor, or if they're grooved, cracked, heavily rusted or causing pulsation. Always replace both sides of an axle together.
- Electric parking brake. If your RAV4 has an electronic parking brake, follow the service procedure for putting it into maintenance mode before working on the rear brakes. Don't force the rear pistons back.
- Tighten wheel nuts and caliper bolts to the torque listed in your RAV4 service information. Don't guess.
Frequently asked questions
Is fitment guaranteed?
Every product page has a fitment table showing the years, trims, engines and positions the part fits, and the vehicle search at the top of the site only shows parts listed for your year. If we got the fitment wrong, we'll accept your return request or help you find the right part. Not sure? Contact us before you order and we'll confirm. Returns for a part ordered for the wrong vehicle fall under our standard refund policy (restocking fee and return shipping apply).
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
Shipping is free within Canada on orders over $60 CAD. Orders under $60 ship for a flat $19.99. We process orders within 0–1 business days and ship from our warehouse in Quebec. Delivery usually takes 1–6 business days depending on where you are. Some remote areas may have an extra charge, and we'll contact you first if that applies.
Can I return a part?
Yes. You have 30 days from receipt to request a return. Parts must be unused, uninstalled and in the original packaging. A 15% restocking fee applies, and return shipping is your responsibility if the wrong part was ordered. See our refund policy.
Which brake kit do I need for my RAV4?
Start with your model year. 2019–2023 owners can choose ceramic (K8C-100730) or drilled/slotted with semi-metallic pads (KDS-100646). For 2006–2018, the K8C-100810 front + rear kit is our most popular choice. If you only need rotors and already have pads, look at a rotors-only kit like KG-101297 (2019–2024).
